It’s not often that I get to see every step of someone’s creation.
But I did. And we documented it all so you can too.
In our new Artist in Residence series, you get to come behind the scenes of rising artists.
Watch here as inspiration turns into ideas. Ideas into collaboration. And collaboration into beautiful sound.
I spent a crazy two weeks in a studio at the foot of the Hollywood Hills.
Because if there’s one thing LANDR is about, it’s fostering creativity.
And while it’s easy to feel the heat of the Californian air, I was there to tap into a less explored energy:
The creative pulse that fuels all music creation…
Jesse Boykins III and Bartholomew
Born in Chicago, raised in Jamaica, then refined in Miami and New York City.
Jesse Boykins III is a Red Bull Music Academy Alum and he’s collaborated with everyone from Machinedrum to Chrome Sparks.
Critics called his last record “Love Apparatus”:
“A warm, dreamy album that easily allows you to get lost in its glow.”
His journey has since brought him to the front doors of the LANDR studio and residence in L.A.
Get a taste of Bartholomew with his freshly released preview track: Losing You
Into The LAIR
Tucked away in the LANDR residence studio, the Bartholomew sessions came to life.
Bartholomew—both the name of Boykin’s alter ego and upcoming mixtape—is a sprawling work of lush textures and emotion.
As you’ll see in the coming weeks, deep creation comes with tribulations, wins, roadblocks and eurekas.
But no matter what, the vision of the LANDR artist in residency is there every step of the way.
